Community Spotlight Rose Marie Raccioppi Helping Individuals Heal Themselves with Sound Therapy

Rose Marie Raccioppi helps people heal through sound therapy, empowerment and more. She is the founder and President of APOGEE ™ Learning Enhancement Training Systems, Attunement Therapy™, Acu- Tone™, and APOGEE Art™. She also is an educational consultant in private practice as well as an artist and poet laureate.

When she attended an orchestra as a 7 year old and heard the dissonant sounds of the tuning up phase shift into beautiful melodious sounds as the performance began, she knew that her purpose was to help tune up the world. “I thought that if we could do that in ourselves, how beautiful the world would be.” Years later she is doing just that.
The healing modalities and techniques she uses have evolved over time and always have been informed by her own life experiences. “When I was diagnosed with cancer over 34 years ago, an awakening was experienced. I took full responsibility for these changes in my body. What brought this body to such a state that it was now consuming itself? In my quest for understanding, in my vision of health and well-being, I pursued a course of study in yoga science at the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science in Honesdale, PA. I received the support and the teachings of the founder Swami Rama and Rudolph Ballentine, MD, the then medical director of the integrative holistic training program.”
Raccioppi explains the role of sound in our lives and how being attuned to it can improve our well-being:
Sound/vibration is a life force. Vibration is inherent in every motion, in every color, in every emotion, in every thought, in every word, in every experience, in every structure. The heart is the middle chakra and can be seen as a metaphor for the universe. The heart gives voice to our thoughts, creation, vision and spirit but also signals all that is above and below. Think about phrases such as ‘my heart’s not in it’ or ‘feeling heartfelt’. Part of our work is to understand when we do not feel loving and joyful and to look into our self to find why we are in a state of discontent. And then determine how to change that. Every feeling that is buried will come back. My joy is for my clients to become so knowledgeable that they no longer need my services.
Words are vibration, be they spoken, sung, shouted, whispered, voiced or silent as thoughts, associations and impressions. The vowels are the breath of the words, the consonants the body of the word. Each of the seven vowels relate to each nerve plexus, also known as chakras. Each consonant activates specific organs by its very vibration. The understanding of sound, words and cell communication have marked my life’s work as an educator, activist, advocate, poet, artist, personal coach and sound therapist.
The words we choose can change our perception. Think about the difference between saying ‘life is half over at 50’ versus saying ‘50 is a new evolutionary stage’. I recommend bringing that type of consciousness to each phase of life and to truly feel the joy of each stage. You even can bring additional meaning to words. For me, the word SELF is Spirit, Evolution, Love, Freedom and with that one always is in joyfulness.
Sound Therapy
Sound therapy is a means by which the body, the mind and the spirit receive restorative frequencies. APOGEE Acu- Tone™ has been an ever expanding practice, with documented benefits since its presentation in 1983. It provides an energetic evaluation that brings both therapist and client to an understanding of presenting need. Based upon this evaluation, specific restorative and balancing frequencies are administered to acupuncture points, meridian pathways, cranium points and reflexology points via medical grade, calibrated bell quality, stainless steel tuning forks. Chimes, sound pipes, gongs, singing bowls, drums, lyres, cymbals, Celtic harp and an assortment of handmade wood clappers, castanets and xylophones are among the offerings for the exploration of sound and vibration within an APOGEE Acu-Tone™ session.
We are all responsible for our own healing. The call to ‘know thyself’ is indeed paramount. To be open to cause, to be willing to explore cause, to confront what may call for change, to be willing to set a course of thought and action that will bring resolve, rests with the volition, the tenacity, the determination and the faith of the person to be fully responsible to self.
