"The Law of Seven
What is it with seven? 7 primary colors, 7 days of the week, 7 notes to a scale, 7 visible bodies in the solar system, 7 main organs to our bodies, 7 chakras, 7 seas, 7 wonders... It is clear our societies are laden with seven as a physical construct number; but why?
Gurdjieff talks about the Law of Seven as being a fundamental property of the universe that allows for changes of circumstances. He claimed that if it were not for this law, conditions and events would continue on forever as they began. Thus, if it began raining it would never stop - clearly, we do not live in a universe of infinite happenings simultaneously. Where and how did the study of "seven" begin, I wonder?
Seven is ubiquitous and yet mundane. Why have we placed such importance on this value?
In liquid cymatics, hydrogylphs with sevenfold geometries are rare to come by with single frequencies. The glyph shown here was in fact generated by two frequencies, 7.83Hz (as a triangle wave) and 108Hz (as a sine wave). Interestingly, as mentioned above, Gurdjieff talked about seven as being the reason (or perhaps result) for changes in the universe, else all would remain as-is. And, it seems that sevenfold cymatics occur best when there are two frequencies providing constant change to the system.
